…it would be Michigan QB Denard Robinson’s. He has been spectacular, leading Michigan to a 2-0 start almost single-handedly. In Saturday’s exciting win over rival Notre Dame, Robinson rushed for 258 yards and 2 touchdowns and threw for 244 yards and a touchdown. And when it mattered most, in the game’s final drive, Robinson led the Wolverines down the field, accounting for all 72 yards of the drive and the game-winning score. His 502 total yards (of the team’s 532) are the most ever in a game by a Michigan player.
Last week against Connecticut, “Shoelace,” rushed for 197 yards, the most by a Michigan QB in 131 years of football, and completed 19 of 22 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown. Over two weeks, Robinson has amassed 885 yards, putting him on-pace for a 5,310 yard season! Now he won’t get to that mark and I question whether his 180 lb frame can handle 20+ rushes a game for a full season, but his dominance over the first two games was profound. Just a sophomore in his first season as the starter, Denard Robinson is playing better than anyone in the country. If the Heisman vote was today, he would be the unanimous winner.
